From: Justin Fletcher To: regdevs@riscos.com X-Organization: RISCOS Ltd Subject: Developer missive 4 Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2000 17:56:13 GMT Hiya, Another missive from RISCOS Ltd developer support... Intro ----- A quick note this time, because the developer site has just moved, so that it's both easier to maintain and easier for developers to find. The old site will be removed in due course. Website ------- The new URL is : http://developer.riscos.com/registered/ The same user names and passwords as previously apply here. The site has been re-organised so it should be easier to navigate, and using the search engine should make documentation easier to find. Areas are more clearly defined now. The major sections you'll find on the site are : BetaTest - Things that need testing and that are basically on show to see what developers think and what they like and dislike. Documents - Various documents. Most of these will have been seen before, but they should be better organised now. The TechNotes directory in particular has been updated with a number of notes which you should probably read. Examples - Example code for your information. Missives - Archives of these missives. Utilities - Programming and general utilities that might prove useful. Bugz ---- As well as these, the Bugz application is released with the intention that bugs, comments and other queries about components be provided through it. Bugz is able to report bugs in running modules, applications and provide information on particular applications through the use of a 'description file'. It is our intention to provide a Bugz description file with applications and modules provided from now on. Developer support ----------------- Further, in the interests of tracking bugs, if you contact us without using Bugz, can you set the subject of the mail to : : eg: Subject: D1001: Internet or something similar. This should aid in recognising who the support query should go to more clearly that 'Can you help please?'. Bugz itself should set the subject correctly, if provided with the correct details. New things ---------- As well as the developer site update and Bugz application, there are a couple of new things on the developer site : * PNGDevelopersKit Some libraries to use whilst developing PNG capable applications * TechNotes These have been updated to our current release versions. In particular you should look at those detailing Clipboard protocol caveats, Sprites, CDFS and Wimp application notes. Outro ----- That's about all, contact us about problems. I'm trying to clear a minor backlog of queries at the moment, so it may be a day or two until things are back to normal. -- Justin Fletcher, Software engineer, RISCOS Ltd Personal URL: http://www.movspclr.co.uk/
